Who is VASER Liposuction Suitable For?

VASER liposuction may be suitable for adults who are close to a stable weight but have localised areas of fat that remain despite diet and exercise.
Your consultation will assess whether the procedure is appropriate for you. Factors considered include:

When May VASER Liposuction Not Be Suitable?

VASER liposuction may not be the most appropriate option if your main goal is substantial weight loss or if significant loose skin is your main concern. Removing fat alone does not remove excess skin, and limited skin elasticity can affect the final contour.

No. VASER liposuction is designed to reshape localised areas of fat rather than achieve substantial weight loss. It may be suitable for people who are close to a stable weight and want to improve specific body contours.

Recovery varies depending on the number and size of areas treated. Swelling, bruising and tenderness are common during the initial recovery period, and a compression garment may be recommended. Most patients gradually return to their usual activities as healing progresses, with individual recovery advice provided as part of your treatment plan.

Fat cells removed during liposuction do not grow back. However, remaining fat cells can still increase in size if you gain weight. Maintaining a stable weight and healthy lifestyle can therefore help preserve your body contouring results.

Your assessment considers your medical history, medication, general health, weight stability, skin elasticity and the areas you would like treated. Dr Siddiqi will also discuss your expectations and whether the procedure is likely to achieve your goals.

VASER liposuction removes fat rather than excess skin. Skin elasticity affects how the treated area looks afterwards. If significant loose skin is your main concern, fat removal alone may not achieve the result you want, and other options may need to be considered.

Several areas may be included in one treatment plan where appropriate. This depends on your health, the extent of treatment and surgical safety. Your consultation will establish which areas can be treated and how this may affect recovery.

Possible risks include infection, bleeding, fluid collections, altered sensation, scarring, uneven contours and skin injury, alongside risks associated with anaesthesia and blood clots. Your clinician will explain your individual risks and how these are managed during your consultation.

Small incisions are needed to carry out the procedure, so some scarring is expected. The location and appearance of scars depend on the areas treated, the technique used and your individual healing. Your clinician will explain this before treatment.
